Description: As I watched this giraffe scout the dry savannah for some shade to escape the scoring hot afternoon in Namibia, her eyes held mine for a moment. This is the ninth straight year that Namibia is experiencing extreme droughts. The erratic rain and hotter temperatures are drying up the water holes, leaving wildlife without water. This hot afternoon was a stark reminder that the entire ecosystem is interconnected, and the effects of global warming I’ve seen in the ocean can also be observed on the dry African savannah.
